D. Academic Activities

Ph.D.students must present their articles in an international conference in the subject relevant to the student’s areas or related to dissertation at least one time.

The full dissertation or some parts of the dissertation has been accepted or published in international refereed-journals or equivalent (e.g. Scimago Journal Rank) in ISI, SCOPUS, web of Science indexing databases, for at least 2 articles, in which at least an article must have the student’s name as the first author with affilation of the Graduate School, Chiang Mai University.
E. Qualifying Examination
A student must take the qualifying examination after complete all required courses with approval by thesis advisory committee or thesis supervisor before submitting a request form to the Graduate School. A student receiving a failing grade will be allowed to appear in one more examination by filling for a petition to retake the qualifying examination. The second attempt will have to be made within one semester from the date of the first examination.
An unsuccessful examinee might submit a request to the Graduate Program Administrative Committee for the approval of the Graduate School to transfer to Master’s Degree program in that subject area or the related.
F. Comprehensive Examination
A student must submit a proposed Comprehensive Examination form with approval from thesis advisory committee or thesis supervisor to the Graduate School. The Comprehensive Examination is required after the student finished at least 2 pairs of related courses in any field or 2 pairs in two different fields, a pair for a single field. The student must has all required courses with the grade of each required course not lower than C.
The student who did not pass the comprehensive examination has the right to take the examination one more time by submitting a petition to retake the examination.
